What is PULTRA?

PULTRA is a glass fiber-reinforced polymer (GFRP) rod reinforcement. PULTRA is used for structural purposes and in both permanent and temporary structures according to project needs. The corrosion problem caused by traditional reinforcement is eliminated with PULTRA. Additionally, PULTRA has 2-3 times higher tensile strength than traditional steel reinforcement while being lighter and easier to handle than steel.

Technical Advantages:

  • Non-Corrosive: PULTRA is unaffected by environmental conditions. Its corrosion-resistant composition (glass fiber and polymer resin) provides much higher durability compared to steel reinforcement. Furthermore, PULTRA is not affected by salty environments, freeze-thaw cycles, and chemical substances.

  • High Tensile Strength: PULTRA has 2-3 times higher tensile strength than steel reinforcements. The tensile strength values start from 900 MPa and can vary according to project requirements.

  • Long-Lasting

  • Lightweight: Depending on the production grades, PULTRA has unit weights ranging from 1.4-2.1 g/cm³. Compared to steel reinforcement, this means 4-5 times lighter reinforcement weight.

  • Non-Electrically Conductive

  • Easy to Install: Since PULTRA is produced and designed according to project-specific details, there is no need for additional labor at the construction site. It arrives ready to be installed and does not require bending or shaping. Additionally, straight rods can be easily cut to the desired length when needed.

Applications:

  • Tunnels:

    • Soft Eye structures
    • Bored piles
    • Diaphragm walls
    • Temporary structures
    • Precast segments
    • Lining concrete
  • Horizontal Elements:

    • Slab-on-grade
    • Bridge decks
    • Salt storage facilities
    • Swimming pools
    • Breakwaters
    • Port structures
